Can be grown indoors or in the garden. Indoors, water freely and fertilize monthly during the growing season. If plants are in pots, move outdoors in summer if desired.
This evergreen shrub, native to South Africa, has long, skinny stems and phlox-like pale blue flowers. It can be used as a shrub, climber, pot plant, or groundcover. If plants are in pots, move outdoors in summer if desired. In the garden, plumbago likes fertile soil in full sun.

Cape Leadwort, which is also called plumbago, is an evergreen climber. The flowers produced are starry, sky blue flowers that it produces between the middle of summer and fall. The plant should be pruned regularly, and the plant may get to 15 feet high.

It will tolerate light shade but prefers full sun. Plumbago auriculata, the cape leadwort, blue plumbago or Cape plumbago, is a species of flowering plant in the family Plumbaginaceae, native to South Africa.

The specific epithet auriculata means “with ears”, referring to the shape of the leaves.
