Cape Leadwort, which is also called plumbago, is an evergreen climber. The flowers produced are starry, sky blue flowers that it produces between the middle of summer and fall. The plant should be pruned regularly, and the plant may get to 15 feet high.

It will tolerate light shade but prefers full sun. Plumbago auriculata, the cape leadwort, blue plumbago or Cape plumbago, is a species of flowering plant in the family Plumbaginaceae, native to South Africa.

The specific epithet auriculata means “with ears”, referring to the shape of the leaves.
